Hey Eric! I’ve been through anxiety, depression, and have had points in my life when the suicidal thoughts were overpowering my mind.
I’ve found that having someone (that you trust) to talk to is vital as you’ll know when the thoughts are rationale or not. Just having someone by your side can make a lot fo difference.
If you’re into that type of thing, meditation (just a few minutes a day) can help understand why the thoughts exist in the first place, so you can begin confronting the issue directly. It often gets portrayed as cliche, hippy, or whatever. But all you need to do is sit down on the sofa or bed, and think in silence for a few mins. That helped me a lot, and is something I now do every morning.
Also, whenever you experience negative thoughts, try going for a walk (or any other type of exercise). I read a quote from someone saying something along the lines of, “get out of your mind & into your body”. Feel free to google the science of it, but going for a short walk each day can massively reduce your stress levels. Again, it’s something I do each day whenever the weather permits.
I hope that helps you Eric, and I hope you have an awesome week!
