I’m not an American. I’m an outsider. So take my opinion with a grain of salt.

It seems like arrogance. A lot of people in the US are prioritizing freedom over public health. They are putting lives at risk just so they can be free — because they’re too impatient to go into a strict lockdown for several months (like in France or Spain).

As a result of mask wearing being politicized, I can’t be optimistic about the future of the United States in terms of outcome with the virus. Hospitals will investably get overrun, and case numbers will keep on increasing. It’ll just get worse. And as the rest of the world begins to open up, America will be left out and isolated (for example, americans are no longer being allowed into Europe).
