I always used to believe that a happy life would involve having loads of money, wearing designer clothes, and traveling to anywhere on the planet.

So in my dreams, I’d imagine purchasing a ticket to The Bahamas and arriving at the airport in a beautiful limousine. I’d then check-in, eat some great food, and enjoy the beautiful flight while sitting in first-class.

You’d be correct if you said I was a little narcissistic. But as I found out last year, you don’t need materialism or expensive vacations to be happy. Like the Roman emperor, Marcus Aurelius once said:

Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.”

I used to work in the music industry. Whether it was writing songs that gained millions of streams or interviewing famous artists at festivals, many people would say I was living the dream.

But often, I had sleepless nights, got incredibly stressed, and never took time for myself to relax. I was a workaholic. So when I passed out in the streets of downtown Calgary, I knew that something had to change. After a long period of thinking, I decided to…
